It’s appalling to see how many people neglect breakfast when it’s supposed to be your most important meal of the day. Adults as well as kids should pay more attention to their morning meal as breakfast will bring many benefits you simply can’t ignore.
(1) Breakfast gives you the required energy to start your daily activities. Going to work on an empty stomach can cause a loss in concentration and focus and makes you less productive at work or school.
(2) Breakfast will help people who are building muscle. Skipping breakfast would slow down your metabolism and hinder your muscle building goals as muscle catabolism is likely to prevail.
(3) Breakfast prevents yourself from starving till lunch time. Also not eating on time can give you gas. If you do that for a prolonged amount of time say for years, you increase your risk in getting stomach ulcer. So why reach this stage when it’s not difficult to eat breakfast. A breakfast doesn’t need to become a chore.
(4) Breakfast will help people who want to lose weight as it stimulates your metabolism and increases fat burning with the right foods. You’re what you eat. This saying can’t be further from the truth. People with weight loss goals are scared of calories and often consider breakfast to be their enemy. In fact there are still people with weight loss goals who ask themselves “Is breakfast good for losing weight?”. For many, breakfast isn’t that important since their goal is to reduce calories so better be on hunger. These people want to cut back on their meals and usually breakfast is one of them. Big big mistake. But not all calories are created equal. These people simply didn’t get the right calories for becoming overweight. Calories from protein, carbohydrates and fat are different. Protein has 4 calories per gram, carbohydrates 4 calories per gram, fat 9 calories per gram and alcohol 7 calories per gram.
So if your breakfast consists of greasy bacon or sugary cereals, you’ll be sure to add up the calories. Whereas if you eat lean protein like eggs and some wholegrain cereals like wholegrain oats or oatbran, your calorie count will be much less. The key is to eat a breakfast consisting of quality foods which are filling and nutritious but low in calories. Having breakfast is imperative if your goal is to lose weight. Skipping breakfast means you’re starving yourself till lunch time and at this point, you increase your chances of overeating for lunch. End result is excess calories in one sitting and your waistline won’t thank you for that. Next time you ask yourself “How Can I Lose Weight”, pay special attention to breakfast and don’t shy away from it.
Make your breakfast delicious. If you enjoy your breakfast, every morning, you’ll be looking forward to it. As everything in life, you need to get used to it, once it becomes a habit, it becomes natural and no longer a hassle. Anyway taking care of your own body shouldn’t become a hassle.
